Ruth A. Hofner, 83, of Burlington, Wis., died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2008, at Pine Brook Pointe in Burlington.
She was born June 24, 1925, in Wheatland Township, Wis., to Bernard A. and Alvira A. (nee Toelle) Richter. She spent her early life and was educated in New Munster, Wis. On Oct. 21, 1972, she married Robert Hofner at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster. Following their marriage they made their home in New Munster.
Ruth was a bookkeeper for Burlington Brass Works. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers of the Church. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She loved going out to lunch with her friends and spending time with her siblings, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include her brother, Harold (Mary) Richter; sister, Dolores (John) Terry; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster with Rev. Mike Erwin officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Saturday, Jan. 10, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church. Memorials have been suggested to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Vitas Hospice for their care of Ruth.
