Blain C. Fenenga, 79, a retired zone and district manager for Investor's Diversified Services, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 1997, in Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Mr. Fenenga was born April 20, 1918, near Hamill. He attended country school near his home and was a member of the last graduating class of Hamill High School in 1936. He farmed and ranched with his father and two brothers before serving four years in the Army Engineers.
He married Dorothy Schemmer on Sept. 14, 1947. They lived on the family ranch until 1958, when they bought land near Winner. He worked as a zone and district manager for Investor's Diversified Services for 25 years. After his retirement he became interested in exotic animals and began raising llamas.
He was a member of Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Hamill and Winner, the Winner American Legion Post No. 169, and the Winner VFW Post No. 2674.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters: Sandy Ashbaugh of Arcanum, Ohio, and Sharon Hofstee of New Holland; a son, Jay Dee of Deadwood; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church in Winner.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Winner, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
