Eva Van Noort, 94, of Hudson, formerly of Hawarden, died Tuesday, September 24, 1996 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Hudson, where she has lived the past three years.
A Funeral Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with the Rev. Dean Shelly officiating. Burial will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery at Hawarden. Visitation will be Thursday, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Dow Funeral Home in Hawarden.
Mrs. Van Noort, the former Eva Jensen, was born August 26, 1902 near Alvord, Iowa the daughter or Henry and Allie (Sueverkruebbe) Jensen. She lived her early life in Alvord. She married Vincent F. Schemmer September 5, 1924 at Sioux City and they made their home there until 1930, when they moved to Sheridan, WY. Vincent died in August of 1934.
Eva returned to Alvord and in August of 1945 she married Martin Van Noort and moved to Hawarden in 1949. Martin died June 9, 1987.
Eva moved to the Colonial Manor Nursing Home 3 years ago.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and other organizations.
Survivors include her son, Peter Schemmer and wife Anna of Hawarden; 3 grandchildren, Patricia Schemmer, Al Schemmer and wife Audrey, and Pamela Schemmer and husband Mike Sweet; and a niece, Betty Brown of Hawarden.
