Norbert John Gelhaus, 85, Sidney, died at 7 p.m. Sept. 19, 2010, at Highbanks Care Center in West Worthington.
He was born Jan. 23, 1925, in St. Henry, to Henry and Philomena Kramer Gelhaus. On Feb. 18, 1950, he married Margaret "Peggy" Wangler, who died Apr. 16, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Diane (Kim) Gasaway, Los Angeles, Calif., and Maria (Michael) Hodge, Dublin; two sisters, Mary Gelhaus Herb and Lucille Gelhaus Ramey; and five grandchildren.
Also deceased are three brothers, Herbert, Ed and Ralph Gelhaus; and two sisters, Anne Gelhaus and Gertrude Gelhaus Schaab.
He was a graduate of St. Henry High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a lines engineer at Dayton Power and Light. He was a member of the Sidney American Legion and the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sidney.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Jason Bedel officiating. Burial with full military rites is at the St. Henry Catholic Church cemetery, St. Henry.
Calling is 8:30-10:15 a.m. Friday at Salm-McGill and Tangeman Funeral Home in Sidney.
