Carl L. Uhlenhake, age 88 of St. Henry, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born on April 16, 1927 in St. Henry to the late Louis & Elizabeth (Kramer) Uhlenhake. On October 29, 1949 he married Martina Homan at St. Marys Church in Philothea and she survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by ten children: Daniel & Sandra Uhlenhake of St. Marys, Barbara & Matthew Micetich of Worthington, Patricia & Daniel Sanders of Gahanna, JoAnn & Jack Hartings of Coldwater, Jerome & Janice Uhlenhake of St. Henry, Mary & Jim Gross of Coldwater, Diane & Jerry Barga of North Star, John & Ann Uhlenhake of St. Henry, Carol & Joe Jones of Dayton and Lori & Chris Rammel of St. Henry; 26 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren; and in-laws: Edward & Luella Homan of Philothea, Louis & Mildred Homan of Dayton, Mary Lou Klopfenstein of St. Marys, Helen & Richard Trigg of Kimberling City, MO, Esther Homan of Coldwater, and Helen Homan of Coldwater.
He is preceded in death by two grandchildren; siblings, Mary & Irvin Gonya and Bernadette & Paul Hasenkamp and in-laws Raymond Homan, Leonore Homan, Alvira Homan, Alfred & Bernadine Homan, Victor Homan, Viola & Harold Muhlenkamp, Thomas Homan, Ralph Klopfenstein and Julianna Homan.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, where he was a parish acolyte and part of the church council, the St. Henry Knights of Columbus, and he was a veteran of the US Army. Carl was also a lifelong farmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 until 6 pm Sunday and 9 until 10 am Monday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Henry Mission Club or State of the Heart Hospice.
