Arnold H. Kramer, 74, 701 West North Street, Coldwater, died at 5:16 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Dayton, following surgery 10 days ago.
He was born May 13, 1922, to Jacob and Theresa (Gels) Kramer, both deceased. On November 28, 1953, he married Ruth (Kemper) who survives.
Also surviving arc five children and their spouses, Kathy and John Moeder, Nan and D.J. List, Bill and Patti Kramer, all of Coldwater, Jane and Gary Homan, Philothea, and Mike and Cindy Kramer, St. Henry; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Kennedy, Centerville, Mrs. Rita Gustin, Kettering, Sr. Ruth Kramer. OLVM, Coldwater, and Mrs. Les (Dorothy) Brandewie, Celina; a brother, Fr. William Kramer, St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, Indiana; and 19 grandchildren. Preceding him in death was a grandchild.
Kramer became working at Pax Steel in 1948 and had served as the company's president since 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during World War Il in the South Pacific. He was also a 1947 graduate of the University of Dayton. Kramer a member of the Board of Trustees of St. Joseph College and on the Board of Directors of the Peoples Bank, serving as Chairman since 1992. He was the past president of the Coldwater School Board.
A member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Coldwater. he belonged to the church's Holy Name Society. He was a past commander of the Coldwater VFW and was a member of the Coldwater American Legion and Eagles. He was a member of the K Of C and was a 4th Degree Knight in Minster. In addition, Kramer was a member Of the Mercer County Elks and Celina Moose.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 24, at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater; Rev. William Kramer and Rev. Ronald Wilker officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater.
Calling hours will be from 2-9 p.m. on Thursday and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater.
