MELVIN H. JUTTE, 73, died at 4:10 p.m. Dec. 16, 1998, at Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys.
He was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Mercer County to Samuel and Clara Guggenbiller Jutte. On Oct. 31, 1969, he married Barbara Clum, who died Sept. 6, 1983. On May 10, 1986, he married Sharlene "Sue" Kingseed, who died July 31, 1991.
Mr. Jutte retired as a self-employed milk truck driver. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and American Legion Post 323, both in St. Marys. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the destroyer escort USS Conklin in the South Pacific.
Survivors include five sons, Michael (Deborah) Jutte and Charles (Mary) Jutte, both of St. Marys, Thomas (Diane) Jutte and Ben (Sue) Jutte, both of Middletown, and Gregory (Deborah) Jutte of Beavercreek; two daughters, Charlotte (Randall) Reed of Milwaukee and Evelyn Jutte of Washington, D.C.; a stepson, Dan (Rhonda) Fink of Huntington, Ind.; three stepdaughters Peggy (Glenn) Rabatin of St. Marys, Ginny Perrotto of Dublin and Amy (Roger) Lavigne of Phoenix; three brothers, Werner Jutte of Port Recovery, Orville Jutte of St. Wendelin and Linus Jutte of Celina; a sister, Lorena Voskuhl of St. Henry; 19 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jutte a step-son, Carey Clum; a brother, Jerome Jutte; and a sister, Leona Kunkler.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. David A. Heinl will officiate. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at St. Marys Chapel of Long & Folk Funeral Homes, St. Marys, where an American Legion memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. and a Christian prayer service at 8:30 p.m.
