Wilfred Francis "Duke" Neidert, age 79, of Loretto, Tenn., died Sept. 30, 2005, following a brief illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josh Gregory and Kate Augustin Neidert siblings, Bud, Ed and Charley Neidert, Agnes Clara Neidert Smith and Mary Beatrice Neidert Stumpe.
He is survived by his brother, Clarence Augustin Neidert, of Loretto, Tenn.; sisters, Annie Elizabeth Neidert Reeves and Mary Eleanor Neidert Weathers, also of Loretto, and Helen Gertrude Neidert Peters, of St. Florian, Ala.; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Known affectionately as Duke, Mr. Neidert was a successful farmer and avid sportsman. He received his early education at Sacred Heart School in Loretto, where he was consistently at the head of his class. He was a dedicated reader, especially enjoying literature about Germany, his fathers homeland. His keen interest in history, world affairs and political events made him an interesting conversationalist.
Mr. Neidert attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the Farm Bureau and Cattlemen's Association. Throughout his adult life, he surrounded himself with friends and family at Neidert Seed Co., where he passed many of his days.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2. 2005. at Greenhill Funeral Home, Greenhill, Ala., with rosary conducted at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct 3, 2005, at Sacred Heart Church with Father Matt Cleerumkuczy and Father Richard Buchignani officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Sacred Heart School, Loretto, Tenn.
