The funera1 for Dr. Malcolm Houston Weathers Jr., 68, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Revs. Richard Buchignani and Raymond Newell officiating, Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
The body is at the funeral home.
He died Monday, June 6, 1989, at Crockett General Hospital, Lawrenceburg after a short illness.
He was a native of Loretto, attended Vanderbilt University and graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine. He served his internship at Nashville General Hospital and his residency at Davidson County Tuberculosis Hospital. He had practiced in Lawrence County since 1948 with the exception of two years in military service. He established weathers General Hospital in Loretto in 1957 and operated it until 1985. He was mayor of Loretto 1962-66 and president of Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce in 1962-63. He had been a member of the Lawrence County School Board, Library Board and numerous other civic and professional bodies. He was a member of the Crockett General Hospital Staff. At the time of his death he was serving on the board of trustees for Martin Methodist College, Pulaski, and of the Columbia State Community College Foundation.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Eleanor Weathers; sons, Malcolm Houston Weathers III, Tampa. Fla., John Gregory Weathers, Loretto; daughters, Emily Catherine Kennedy, Athens, Ala., Mariann Neidert Weathers, Nashville; one grand-daughter; sisters, Eula M. Newton, Lawrenceburg, Juanita B. Weathers, Loretto; brother, Lloyd H. Weathers, St. Joseph; nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
