Funeral services for John P. Salz, 78, of 322 Walnut Court apartments, who died of cancer at 7:50 p.m. Friday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Luke B. Striegel, a cousin, of Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, will officiate at concelebrated Requiem Mass assisted by the Rev. A. A. Sodawasser, pastor. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A wake service by the parish and the Knights of Columbus will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. today at the O'Keefe & Towne, Funeral Home.
Mr. Salz, son of Joseph and Anna Burchinsky Salz, was born here April 2, 1892. He married Amelia Hoffa June 10, 1919, at Central, N.M.
He was associated with Bruner & Salz Plumbing & Heating firm for a half-century, retiring in 1960. Prior to his death he was employed at Court Square building.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, its Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, and Recreation Center Singers.
Surviving are his widow: one daughter; Mrs. Joseph Koster, rural Dunkerton: two sons, Richard. at home, and Brother Alfred W, Salz, CSC, of Long Beach, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Pat Doherty, 52 Franklin St., and Sister Mary Rembert, BVN, of Dubuque.
Also surviving are two grandchildren; and one brother, Andrew, of Phoenix. Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.
