WILLIAM B. SALZ
William B. Salz, 71, of 52 Franklin St., died at University Hospitals in Iowa City at 1:35 p.m. Thursday of complications of a kidney ailment.
He was born Oct. 8, 1893, in Waterloo. His parents were John and Anna Burchinsky Salz. For 40 years he lived in Decorah, where he was a carpenter. He returned to Waterloo in 1959.
Mr. Salz was a sergeant in World War I. He never married.
He is survived by two sisters, Sister Mary Rembert, B.V.M. of Marcus and Mrs. Patrick Doherty, 52 Franklin St. Other survivors include a brother, John P. Salz, 322 Walnut Ct.; a brother, Andrew L. Salz, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Salz, 625 Stephan Ave.
Mr. Salz was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr Duane Brady, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at O'Keefe and Towne Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Saturday.
