Kathleen Thoma, Sioux City, and Sgt. Lanigan Of Waterloo Married
The Sioux city Journal prints the following notice or the marriage of the daughter of a former LeMars couple:
Burnt orange gladioluses graced the altar of cathedral of the Epiphany for the marriage of Miss Kathleen Thoma, daughter or Mrs. J. J. Thoma, 1114 Jones street, and Sgt. Roger Paul Lanigan, son of Mr. and Mrs., Thomas Lanigan or Waterloo, at 8:30 o'clock Thursday morning. The service was read by Rev. Joseph E. Tolan. Albert Morgan was organist.
The wedding party was comprised or Mrs. J. P. Hoffmann, sister of the bride, matron of honor; Miss Patricia Sullivan and Miss Betty Thoma, another sister, bridesmaids; Carol Ann Thoma, the bride's niece, flower girl; Louis Robert of Williams, Iowa, best man, and Elmer and Roman Thoma, brothers of the bride, ushers.
Given in marriage by her brother, Joseph Thoma, the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin, en train, made with sweetheart neckline, leg o' mutton sleeves, fitted bodice and flared skirt. Her long veil was of net, edged in lace, and had a blush veil caught to a seed pearl crown. She carried an armful of white gladioluses.
The bride's attendants wore matching gowns of white net, fashioned with dropped shoulder lines, long torsos, and bouffant skirts, and long, white mitts. They carried bouquets of gladioluses, ranging in color from light to deep orange. The bridesmaids wore large picture hats trimmed in flowers matching their arm bouquets, while Mrs. Hoffmann wore a shoulder length veil.
Carol Ann wore a white net gown, fashioned like that of the other attendants, and carried a basket of flower petals. She wore a tiara of mixed flowers. Mr. Thoma was attired in black crepe and wore a shoulder cluster of gardenias.
A wedding dinner was served at 1 p. m. in Green Gables. The newlyweds plan a trip to Chicago. The bridegroom is to report to Sioux Falls for reassignment. He served 21 months overseas and is on a 30-day furlough. The bridegroom's mother and brother LeRoy, were among wedding guests. Prenuptial entertainment for the bride included a shower given by Mrs. Robert Thoma and Mrs. P.P. Hoffmann and a luncheon at which business associates were hostesses.

ROGER P. LANIGAN.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic church for Roger P. Lanigan, 46, of 627 E. 4th St., who died at his home, at 11:30 p.m. Saturday of an unexpected heart attack.
The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Duane Brady, pastor, will officiate. Rosary services will be at 7:30 p. m. Monday by the Catholic Order of Foresters and at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the parish, both at the Oppold funeral home.
Mr. Lanigan was born on March 26, 1917, the son of Thomas and Pauline Koester Lanigan at Hudson. He was graduated from the Dunkerton high school and attended the State University of Iowa until his entry into the Army Air Force in 1942. He was based in England during the war and was discharged during 1945.
On Aug. 2, 1945, he married Kathleen Thoma at Sioux City. They came to Waterloo after their marriage. He worked at the Rath Packing Co. for five years and owned and operated trucks for construction work. For the past five years he has been employed at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Timothy, 15; Michael, 9; Stephen, 2½; one daughter, Gigi Suzanne, 4 weeks; two brothers, Joseph L., of 313 Lafayette St., and John Robert of Fairbank. He was preceded in death by his parents.
