Clifford J. Richter, 62, of 1825 S Grange Ave., died Monday in Royal C Johnson Veterans Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Richter was born Dec 13, 1922, in Estelline. He grew up in the Ashton, Iowa area and graduated from Ashton High School. He served in the Navy during World War II.

He married Gladys Unverzagt Aug. 21, 1951 in Minneapolis. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1955 from Sheldon, Iowa. He was employed as a salesman and assistant manager at Wonderfour Shoe Store since 1969. He retired in 1983 because of ill health.

He was a member of the VFW.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve, Sioux Falls; four daughters: Mrs. Ron (Julie) Giedd, Mrs. Paul (Jilayne) Suva, Mrs. Glenn (Janice) Anderson and Joanne Richter, all of Sioux Falls; five grandsons; his mother, Frances Richter, Sheldon; and three sisters: Mrs. Carole Lunders, Burlingron, Conn.; Mrs. Elmira Bloudek, Waconia, Minn.; and Mrs. Delorous Wagner, Sheldon.

Funeral Mass will begin at 11:15 a.m. Friday in Christ the King Catholic church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in Miller Funeral Home.
