Funeral Mass for Victor John "Vic" Marnach, 81, of Ashton, was held May 31, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ashton with Father Timothy J. Hogan and Father Kevin Richter as Celebrant and Con-celebrant. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Ashton. Walton Roste & Vogel Funeral Home of Sibley & Ashton was in charge of arrangements.
Victor John "Vic" Marnach was born Feb 20, 1919, at Emery, SD, the son of Michael and Mary Ann (Wethor) Marnach. He grew up in the Emery area and attended St. Martin's School. When Vic was a young man he moved to Ashton to work on farms with his brother Conrad.
On June l, 1943, Vic married Mildred Richter at Ashton. Following their marriage they farmed in South Dakota and Minnesota before moving to Sheldon in 1965. While living in Sheldon Vic and Mildred worked as Star Route drivers. Later they lived in Minnesota for a short time before moving to Ashton in January of 1987.
Recently Vic's health declined and he became a patient of Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He passed away there on May 27.
He is survived by his wife; two children Don Marnach and his wife Lupe of Orangevale, CA; and Donna Kuklock and her husband Ben of Little Falls, MN. Also surviving are three granddaughters; one brother, Wilfred Marnach and his wife Bernice, sisters-in-law, Marcella Marnach and Lorraine Marnach, and brother-ln-law, Michael Curry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Veronica Berg, Anastasia Curry, Sister Luella O.S.F., and four brothers, Conrad, Vincent, Norbert and Joseph in infancy.
