Daniel M. Luton, 82, of Grand Island died Wednesday, July 3, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo's Catholic Church. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at the church.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Luton was born Dec. 29, 1919, to Harmon and Jenny (McCoy) Luton. He grew up and attended school in northwest Iowa. During the war, he moved to California and worked in the shipyards.
He married Marcella Richter in 1944. They lived in Columbus where he worked for Behlen Industries. In 1965 he went to work for Chief Industries as a master tool and die maker until retiring in 1982.
His hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking.
Survivors include five daughters and three sons-in-law, Connie Luton of Omaha, Barbara and Edward Boos of Cozad, Marabeth Luton of Grand Island, RonaRae and Gordon Melkus of Clovis, Calif., and Janet and Jay Perantoni of Summerville, N.J.; five sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Pat Luton of Juniata, Daniel and Mary Luton of Grand Island, David and Gayle Luton of Grand Island, Darryl and Sally Luton of Olathae, Kan., and Dana and Hilary Luton of Omaha; a sister, Donna Buum of Fremont, Calif.; a brother, Charles Luton of Danville, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a brother, Dean Luton; a sister, Doris Soiset; and an infant brother, Delbert Luton.
