Jesse Dierdorff, 79, Elkhart township farmer and insurance man died of a heart attack shortly after noon Friday at his farm home a mile southeast of Goshen.
Mr. Dierdorff became suddenly ill while walking from the house to the barn to care for 21 new-born lambs. He was assisted to the house by his brother, Peter, and a doctor was called. Mr. Dierdorff died after the physician arrived.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Dierdorff, he was born Nov. 15, 1871, and spent his entire life on the same farm. His wife, the former Minerca Rieth, whom he married in 1910, died four years ago. Since her death, the brother, Peter and his wife have resided with Mr. Dierdorff.
A sister, Mrs. Chauncey Berkey, Goshen, also survives.
Funeral services will be held at the Dierdorff residence at 2 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Trevor Dillon of the First Presbyterian church will officiate, and burial will be in Violett cemetery.
