MRS. LENA CHASE
Mrs. Lena Chase, 77, a resident of Waterloo for the past 26 years, died of a heart ailment and complications at 7 p. m. Saturday in her home at 414 Last Ninth street. Stricken July 27, she had been confined since.
Born on a farm in Buchanan county on Aug 3, 1867, daughter of Michael and Marcel1a Trebon, she lived there and in Fayette county until her marriage Apr. 5, 1893 to Isaac I. Chase at Fairbank, Ia.
After farming for some time in Fayette county. they moved to Gilbertville, where he was engaged in buttermaking. In 1918 they came to Waterloo. Her husband preceded her in death in 1937. A son died in infancy in 1900. Six brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Johns Catholic church.
Surviving are two sons Ithmer L. Chase, 1116 Logan avenue, and Frank L. Oelwein, Ia.; two daughters Mrs. Joe Fleider, 414 East Ninth street and Mrs. Walter Kerns, Fairbank; three stepsons, Burley, Fred and Earl Chase, all of Fairbank; a brother, Michael Trebon, 210 Glenwood street; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Zewiske, Davenport Ia., and Mrs. Peter Jacobs, Brainard, Minn.; 32 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 a. m. Wednesday in St. John's Catholic church by Rev. Ft. N. J. Lentz. The body will be taken from the O'Keefe & Towne funeral home Monday afternoon. St. John's rosary society will recite the rosary at 8 p. m. Monday arid Tuesday. Burial will be in Fairbank.
