EDWARD TREBON.

 

Edward Trebon, 77, of 839 Courtlandt St., died of pneumonia and complications Friday at 3:50 a. m. at Schoitz Memorial Hospital.

A life resident of this community, he was born Nov. 24, 1879, at Fairbank, a son of Rufus and Augusta Ortman Trebon.

His first marriage was to Louise Hartman, and a few years following her death he was married a second time at St. Paul, Minn., his bride being Magdalen Thelen. She died Sept. 10, 1954. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church.

Surviving Mr. Trebon are two brothers, Arthur, of Jesup, and George Trebon of Fairbank.

Funeral Services are pending at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home.

Divorce Petitions Filed

TREBON, Magdalen vs. Edward H.: Married at St. Paul, Minn., Aug. 12, 1919; separated Aug. 24, 1944; charge, cruel and inhuman treatment; plaintiff asks that defendant be restrained and enjoined from disturbing the peace at plaintiff or molesting her at 839 Courtlandt street, Waterloo; she asks $15 per week temporary alimony and $100 attorney fees, title to house and lot, household furniture; plaintiff asks attachment without bond against lands, tenements, chattels and rights and credits of defendant to secure her claim, and for such amount as the court may find just and equitable.

Spouse Let Meat Burn and Visited Taverns, Wife Says

"While I worked, he burnt the meat I bought while he and his friends went to beer parlors." Mrs. Magdalen Trebon. 66, plaintiff in contested divorce proceedings against her husband, Edward H. Trebon, 65, of 839 Courtlandt street, testified in the opening of the case Friday morning in district court, before Judge W.T. Evans.

Married Aug. 12, 1919, at St. Paul, Minn., she said they lived on a farm near Fairbank before moving to Waterloo in 1938. The couple separated Nov. 24, 1941, but later, Mrs. Trebon testified she moved back in the Courtlandt street home, where she occupied the back quarters, and Mr. Trebon lived in the front part of the home.

Divorce action, charging her husband with cruelty, was filed on Aug. 29, 1944, and on Sept. 1, 1944, Trebon was found not guilty of contempt of court, following a citation filed by his wife.

Joint Tenancy of Home Is Granted Divorced Couple

Edward H. Trebon, 65, and his wife, Magdalen, 66, Wednesday were divorced after being married for 25 years, but were given the right to occupy separate quarters in their home, 839 Courtlandt street, according to a decision rendered by District Judge W. T. Evans in district court late Tuesday.

The decree, granted Trebon on cross-petition, was rendered following an all-day trial May 18.

30-Day Notice.

The decision provides for joint tenancy of the home on which Trebon is to pay the taxes and keep the house in reasonable repairs. He is given the right to continual occupancy there, while Mrs. Trebon is given the right to live in her portion of the house as long as she desires.

A clause stipulates Mrs. Trebon is required to. give a 30-day notice to her ex-husband, should she leave her quarters and decide to move back. In addition she is awarded interest in a home on Van Buren street, now being sold under contract.

Cruelty Charged.

The Trebons were married Aug. 12, 1919, at St. Paul, Minn., and separated Nov. 24, 1941, although they continued to live in separate quarters.
