Fairbanks and community were deeply grieved and shocked last Wednesday evening when it was learned that Mrs. H. A. Trebon had passed suddenly away.
Mrs. Trebon had been in unusually good health prior to her death and went about during the day performing the duties of her state in life . After her day's work was completed and evening's shadows gathering, the Death Angel passing by saw a soul pure and beautiful and snatched it from our midst.
Theressa Alice Polark was born in Illinois on Oct 15, 1859 and died May 7, 1919. She moved to this county in early childhood. On June 5, 1882, she was married to H. A. Trebon and to that union four children were born, all of whom survive. Mrs. Trebon's life was one of great sacrifice and devotion and no act of kindness was ever too great for her willing hands to perform.
She was a devout member of the Catholic church and a member of the Rosary Society, which marched in a body chanting the Rosary, the words of which were oft repeated by the lips so cold in death.
Requiem mass was celebrated by her pastor, Rev. John Halpin, who delivered a beautiful tribute to her memory.
Those acting as pall bearers were John Leehey, John Gardner, John Welsh, O. F. Leonard, L. T. Miller and John Peters.
While the hymn "O Weary Soul" was being sung, the remains were taken from the church and borne to the family lot in the Catholic cemetery. She is mourned by her husband, one son Alonzo A. Trebon of Dubuque, and three daughters, Mrs. Della Irvine and Mrs. Mary Schumacher of this place, and Miss Olive A. of Washington, DC; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Warner and Mrs. Lena Cassidy of Spokane Wash., and Joseph Polark of Independence, Iowa.
Those from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. A . A. Trebon, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. J. Polark, Mr. and Mrs. M. Trebon, Mr . and Mrs. Geo. Smale, Mrs. Brennan, and Mrs. Brick of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Guthknecht, Harrison; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Maehn, Davenport; Dr. and Mrs. A. Trebon, Independence, and Dr. and Mrs. F. Schuck, Donnelson , Iowa.
