Mrs. Mary Schumacher
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mary Schumacher, a life long resident of Fairbank were held Tuesday morning, Jan 5th at Immaculate Conception Church, Rev. Father W. J. Torpey officiating at Requiem High Mass. Mrs. Schumacher had been in very poor health for a number of years suffering from heart trouble which caused her death suddenly at five o'clock Friday morning in Cedar Rapids, where she was making her home with her daughter. Mary Trebon, second daughter of H.O. and Therese Trebon was born Nov. 4, 1886 on a farm three miles south of Fairbank where she grew to young womanhood and attended the from the Immaculate Conception schools here. After graduation school she attended Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught in the schools in and around Fairbank.
She was married to Emial J. Schumacher in June 1908. To this union ws blessed three children Angelyn, and William, an infant daughter having died in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Shumacher operated a Furniture and Undertaking establishment in Fairbank until failing health of Mr. Schumacher caused him to dispose of this business and retire. Mr. Schumacher passed away and after his death Mrs. Schumacher was employed as assistant cashier in the Farmers State Savings Bank at Fairbank.
She leaves to mourn her loss two children, Angelyn and William of Ceder Rapids, one brother Olonso of Dubuque and one sister, Mrs. Mary Lyon of Cascade. Casket bearers were Frank Miller, Dem Mersch, Frank Polark, Hugh Leehey, Frank Ward and Frank Peters.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Harry Lyon of Cascade, Mrs. Olonso Trebon of Dubuque, Miss Norma Irving of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Cranslow and daughter of Van Horn, and Mr. and Mrs. William Schumacher of Cedar Rapids. The sympathy of the entire community is extended.
Burial was made in the family lot in the Immacumate Conception cemetery at Fairbank.
