Mrs. Mary Tribon died Friday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Lampright, after an illness of several years. The cause of her death was old age.
Mrs. Tribon, whose maiden name was Mary Eichhorst, was born in Germany on February 2, 1825. She married Joseph Tribon in 1849, and five years later emigrated with him to the United States. To make the journey they were obliged to borrow $100 for the family's fare, and then they crossed in a sailing ship, which took eleven weeks for the voyage.
There were eleven children in the family, five of whom are now dead. Mr. Tribon died 20 years ago: Mrs. Tribon left six living children, 39 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. The six children living are: Mrs. Mary Lampright, Algona; Dr. F. L. Tribon, Algona; Dr. Joe Tribon, Independence; Dr. A. L. Tribon, Sumner; Mrs. Christine Renz, Dunkerton; and Mrs. Dan Trumbauer, Dunkerton. The body was taken to Independence for burial Monday.
