Death came as a relief to the sufferings of Mrs. C. W. Satterlee at 7:45 Thursday evening, October 26. She had been in failing health most of the time since her husband passed away nine years ago. For the past year she has been bedfast practically all of the time, but in spite of medical attention and loving care she passed away into quiet rest that evening at the age of 68 years, 1 month and 25 days.
Agusta Wagner, daughter of William and Amelia Wagner was born at Dunkerton, Iowa, in Blackhawk county, August 31, 1871. Here she grew to womanhood and was married to Chas. W. Satterlee, January 7, 1891. The young couple went to Waterloo to make their home and after two years they moved to Independence where they lived for 26 years. Two children were born to this union, Neva, Mrs. George Wellendorf of this city and a son Lyle of Waterloo. The past seventeen years of her life have been spent in Ida Grove where they managed the Park Hotel. Mr. Satterlee preceded her in death nine years ago.
Besides her two children she leaves to mourn their loss four sisters, Mrs. Emma Snader Waterloo; Mrs. Susie Hill, Independence; Mrs. Nettie Alcorn Philadelphia, and Mrs. Pearl Foster of Waverly, and one brother William Wagner of Dunkerton. Also four four grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held from Moore Bros. funeral home Sunday at 2:30 o'clock p. m. with Rev. H. E. Whyte officiating, assited by Rev. Wilbur Swan. Mrs. E. A. Swanke sang "In the Garden" and "Have Thine Own Way" with Mrs. Stanley J. Mead accompanist. Pall bearers were: Fred Haefner, R. L. Bradley, R. B. Miller, Ray Pilcher, Alfred Cooper and Ralph Monchamp.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Satterlee and daughter Mary Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Satterlee and son LeRoy, Will Reed, Mrs. Emma Snader, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Renz, Waterloo; Mrs. Pearl Foster, Waverly; Dr. and Mrs. Frank Tribon, Mrs. Mary Lampright and Mr. Frost, Algona; Wilma Wagner, Cedar Falls; Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Bradley and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Arnold of Sioux City.
