Barrows-Schemmer
Miss Betty Barrows of Lamoni, Iowa, was wedded to Mr. Clarence Schemmer of this city by Rev. Father M.A. Schemel at Alton, June 3. The bride was attended by Miss Charlotte Dunn of Granite, Florida, and the groom by his brother, Walter Schemmer.
The bride taught in the first grade of the public school here three years ago and has been teaching in the public schools of Sheldon and is a talented young lady. The groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Schemmer of Rock Valley and was born and raised here. He is a graduate of Creighton university, class of 1925, and is connected with the Schemmer hardware store here.
Mr. and Mrs. Schemmer left immediately for a wedding trip to Lamoni and Chicago.

C. H. 'Solly' Schemmer killed in Omaha construction accident
Funeral services for Clarence H. "Solly" Schemmer, 59, were held at 9 00. a.m. this morning (Thursday) in St. Mary's Catholic church in Rock Valley with the Rev Father R.W. Reinhart officiating.
Mr Schemmer, who for a long time operated a construction and plumbing firm here, was killed in Omaha Monday when he was run over by a concrete mixer truck while inspecting the grade of some street paving in a housing project at Omaha. He was employed by an engineering firm in that city.
The driver of the truck said he did not see Mr Schemmer.
Survivors include his wife Betty, three sons-James of Omaha, Michael of Milwaukee, Wisc., and William who is in submarine school in New London, Conn.
Other survivors are his mother, A.F. Schemmer of Rock Valley, one brother, W.A. Schemmer of Logan, and seven sisters-Mrs Martin Cullinan, Mrs Clarence Keegan, Mrs Loyd Klein-all of Rock Valley, Mrs Clarence Goldsmith of Mahnomen, Minn., Mrs Floyd Olson of Savage, Minn., Mrs Harold Otterstrom of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs Thomas McIntosh of Pasadena, Calif.
Four grandchildren also survive.
Pallbearers were Jerome Haas, Cloy McKeegan, Stanley McKeegan, Dr C.J. Schroeder, Claire Barry and William VerMulm.
Porter Funeral home had charge of arrangements with burial in St. Mary's cemetery at Rock Valley.
