Cedrlc G. Smale, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Smale, 143 Mohawk street, died at 6:15 a. m. today at the home of his parents, of intestinal influenza. He had been in perfect physical condition until five weeks ago, when he became ill.
The young man was born June 2, 1904, at Chicago and came to Waterloo with his parents in 1912. He received his education at St. Mary's parochial school and Our Lady of Victory academy. Until recently he was employed by the Campbell Baking company, leaving there to enter the employ of the John Deere Tractor company.
A sister, Ruth, preceded him in death, leaving him the only child of his parents. Besides his parents, he is survived by a grandmother, Mrs. Mary Bruck, Los Angeles, Cal., and these aunts: Mrs. Thomas G. Torkey, Mrs. W. C. Brennan and Mrs. Ward E. Murray, all of Los Angeles, and also an uncle, John N. Bruck, Ruthven, Ia.
Funeral services will be Thursday morning, at an hour not determined, in St. John's Catholic church. Burial will be in Jesup.
The body will be taken from the O'Keefe & Towne mortuary to the home late this afternoon. Friends are requested to send no flowers.
