Elsie Komarek Becomes Bride of Erwin Ford
Protivin
Miss Elsie Komarek, 609½ Commercial street, Waterloo, daughter of Mrs. Anna Komarek of Protivan, became the bride of Erwin Ford. 1017 Washington street. Cedar Falls, son of the Edward Fords of Waucoma, at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning.
The double ring service occurred in Holy Trinity Catholic church here before an altar decorated with summer flowers. Mrs. Edward Svoboda was organist.
The bride wore a nylon marquisette gown with a square neckline, pointed sleeves and tiers of lace ornamenting the skirt and train. Her fingertip veil of silk illusion net fell from a crown of orange blossoms and she carried a colonial bouquet of red roses.
Mrs. Wilmer Lukes, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor in lavender nylon marquisette over satin. Her colonial bouquet was also fashioned of red roses Mrs. James Kosatka, sister of the groom was bridesmaid in a yellow marquisette gown with an identical bouquet.
Evelyn Ford of Waucoma, sister of the bride; David Kosatka, the groom's nephew, and Marie Jane Pecinovsky of Cresco were flower girl and boy and ring bearer respectively. Wilmer Lukes, brother in-law of the bride, was best man and usher was James Kosatka, the groom's brother-in-law.
One hundred fifty attended the reception in Protivin gymnasium. The three-tiered cake was topped with figures of a miniature bride and groom.
Following a wedding trip in the west, the couple will live in Waterloo. The bride has been a waitress at Friedl's Coffee shop there and the groom is a mechanic in Cedar Falls. He attended trade schools in Lansing, Mich, and Chicago.

FORD, ERWIN H.
FORD, ERWIN H. was born September 14, 1925 in Fairbank, Iowa, the son of Edward and Frances (Knoll) Ford. He married Elsie Komarek on July 12, 1949 in Protovin, Iowa. Erwin served with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during W.W. II. He worked at Mether Motor Company for five years; owned and operated the Conoco Gas Station for several years; and worked at Viking Pump Company for sixteen years, retiring in 1990. Erwin died at home, Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at 73 years of age.
He is survived by his wife Elsie, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his two daughters, Julie Baker and Jolene Ford, both of Cedar Falls; his six sons, Dale of Eagan, Minnesota, Roy of Cedar Falls, Dan of Mason City, Iowa, and Randy, Darwin and Roland, all of Cedar Falls; thirteen grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; his three sisters, Ethel Vachta, Elsie Welsh and Evelyn Greene and his step-sister, Edith Vassar.
Erwin was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Linda Ford; two brothers, Elmer and Edgar; and three step-sisters and one step-brother.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1999, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Military committal rites were conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. A memorial fund will be established.
