Another sad accident happened in Rook Valley last Saturday evening shortly after six o'clock when Arthur Schemmer, the seventeen-months old boy of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Schemmer, was struck by an automobile and received injuries from which he died about two hours later. The accident was unavoidable, and no blame whatever is attached to the driver.

Mrs. J. A. Hulzenga was slowly backing the car from the garage at her home. She looked to see. as she always did, that no children were near, and there were none in sight. As she backed onto the crossing, the little fellow must have come from behind a tree or from around the corner of the house. thinking he might get a ride. The Schemmer family had just gone into the house for supper. It was one of those unfortunate accidents that sometimes happen which no one can avoid. The sympathy of the community goes out both for the bereaved parents and Mrs. Huizenga.

Arthur Schemmer was born January 17, 1920, and died at his home in Rock Valley, June 17, 1921, being just seventeen months old. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church Monday forenoon, and the remains were taken to St. Mary's Cemetery for burial.
