Dorothy I. Figlmiller, 84, of 105 Marrs St., Chippewa Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She was born July 5, 1925, in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Louis and Gertrude (Trebon) Gettler. She graduated from McDonell High School in 1943 and went to Eau Claire Teachers College (now known as UW-Eau Claire). She had worked at Chippewa Sewing Machine Company for many years. Dorothy married Victor J. Figlmiller, Jr. on June 27, 1945, in St. Cloud, Minn. She was a member of Notre Dame Church.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Michael (Marcia) Figlmiller of Chippewa Falls; three daughters, Mary (John) Kaster of Whitewater, Vickie (Norman) Whitehead of Monroe and Carolyn (Terry) Figlmiller-Bowe of Chippewa Falls; one brother, Louis (Mary) Gettler, Jr. of Chippewa Falls; four sisters, Darlene Borton of Eau Claire, Delores (Bob) Collins of Mesa, Ariz., Yvonne (Gene) Doucette of Chippewa Falls and Carol (Bob) Marsolek of Rochester, Minn.; and six grandchildren, Elizabeth and Valerie Figlmiller, Michelle Kaster, Ryan and Natalie Whitehead and Tate Bowe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, Jr. on Nov. 4, 1990; one daughter, Ann Marie on June 25, 1979; her parents; one brother, Bernard Gettler; three sisters, Norma Gettler, Joyce Gettler and Marie Krause; and one grandson, Anthony Whitehead.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 14, 2009, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Rev. Brian J. Jazdzewski will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13, and until 10 a.m. Monday at Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. The Ladies of Notre Dame will recite the rosary at 5 p.m., and there will be a Christian vigil service at 7 p.m., both on Sunday at the funeral home.
