Frances Esther Kotz was born March 14, 1918, in Presho, South Dakota, the youngest of nine children of Henry and Katharine (Kappenman) Kotz.
Frances attended school in Lyman County and graduated from Presho High School in 1936. She then attended Notre Dame junior College in Mitchell and received a teaching certificate.
On December 26, 1944, she married Ralph Regennitter. They farmed south of Vivian all of their married life. After Ralph's death on June 26, 1975, Frances and her son Richard continued the farming operation.
In 1984 Frances moved to Presho and lived there until November 1997 when she moved to the Kadoka Care Center.
During her life Frances was active in community activities including Christ the King Catholic Church, American Cancer Society, American Legion Auxiliary and was a 4-H leader. She enjoyed playing bridge and took great pride in her grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are two sons, Lyle Regennitter and his wife Bonita of North Platte, Nebraska and Richard Regennitter and his wife Deb of Farmington, Minnesota; one daughter Eileen Stolley and her husband Dick of Kadoka, South Dakota; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Frances was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and three sisters.
Frances E. Regennitter, age 85, of Vivian, died Monday, August 04, 2003 at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip.
Visitation was held 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Presho, with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. all at the church.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:00 a.m. Friday, at Christ the King in Presho.
Interment was in the Vivian Cemetery, Vivian, South Dakota.
