Paul C. Kotz, 63, of Rockford passed away at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born Sept. 13, 1944, in Pierre, S.D., the son of Aloysious and Mabel (Knutson) Kotz. Married Alyce F. Houchin on Nov. 22, 1965. He retired as a machinist from Rockford Powertrain. He served in the National Guard. Was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church and served as a grand knight and district deputy in the Knights of Columbus. Paul spent countless hours coaching baseball and football for his sons' teams. He is survived by wife, Alyce; daughters, Melissa (Robert) Chapman, Kathryn Kotz, Paula (Aric) Clevenger; son, Michael Kotz; grandchildren, Erin Jardine, Gillyanne Redisi and Zane Clevenger; great-grandchild, Marie Martin; brothers, Austin (Bonnie) Kotz, Gerald Kotz, Steven (Barbara) Kotz and James (Eileen) Kotz; sister, Mary Haiston; and numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by parents; and infant brother, Thomas. Service at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, in Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, with visitation from 5 p.m. to time of service; the Rev. William R. Wentink will officiate. Private family burial at a later date in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
