Steven Eugene Kotz, 71, of Rockford died on January 18, 2018 in his home. Born October 7, 1946 in Presho, SD; son of Al and Mabel (Knudtson) Kotz. Graduate of Presho High School. Steven served in the United States Navy as a radar operator. United in Marriage to Barbara Sheese on November 27, 1968 in Rockford. Steven retired from Borg Warner, where he was employed as a machinist. Member of Heartland Community Church, where he served on the First Impressions team. Steven always put his family first, and was a loving husband and dad. He was a hard worker throughout his life. If someone was ever in need, Steve was always ready with a hand to help. Survived by children, Christopher (Bridget) Kotz, Shannon (Dereck) Pumilia, Jaimie (Scott) Borota; siblings, Mary Haiston, Jim (Eileen) Kotz; good friend, Ashley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Austin, Jerry and Paul Kotz and wife, Barb.
Funeral service Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd. Rockford, with visitation at 11:00 a.m. until the service. Pastor Todd Johnson will officiate. Interment in Willwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Loves Park VFW Post 9759 2018 Windsor Rd, Loves Park, IL 61111, may be made in Steven's memory.
