James "Jim" Beumer, 67, of 1321 Annway Drive, a retired postal carrier, died Thursday, June 1, 1995, at his home.
Mr. Beumer was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Rock Valley, Iowa. He grew up and attended school at Rock Valley, graduating from Rock Valley High School in 1945. He entered the Army on Jan. 27, 1951, where be served as a military police officer. After his discharge on Jan. 27, 1953, be worked as a postal carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Hawthorne, Calif.
He married Connie Kotz on Feb. 7, 1959, in Sioux Falls. They lived in Hawthorne and moved to Sioux Falls in the early 1960s, where he continued to be a postal carrier until his retirement on June 1, 1987. He and his wife spent summers at Lake Madison.
He was a member of St. Lambert Catholic Church; American Legion; Moose Lodge; and the National Association of Letter Carriers, where in the past he served as treasurer for 19 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons: Craig of Sioux Falls; and Brad of Detroit, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Brad (Teresa) Pederson of Elk Point; three grandchidren; two brothers: Francis of Oakhurst, Calif.; and Paul of Rock Valley; and two sisters: Mrs. Bob (Margaret) Brower of Coarsegold, Calif.; and Viva Mc Collum of Alhambra, Calif.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Lambert Catholic Church, with burial at St. Michael cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at George Boom Funeral Home, with the family present following scripture services.
Scripture services will begin at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
