Age 88, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2013 at Walnut Grove in Lake Geneva. Mary was born April 5, 1924 in New Munster, to the late John and Louise (nee Epping) Kretschmer. She attended St. Alphonsus School and was a lifelong resident of New Munster. On September 12, 1953 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in New Munster, Mary was united in marriage to Harold B. Richter. Harold preceded Mary in death on October 28, 2012. Mary was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and the Christian Women's Society. She enjoyed knitting, reading and watching basketball. Mary enjoyed sewing and as a 4H leader had specialized in sewing. Most of all she loved caring for her grandchildren. Survivors include her children; Joan (Marty) Lois of Burlington, Jim (Gail) Richter of Waukesha, Bob (Debbie) Richter of Bassett and Jane (Peter) Peterson of Burlington, grandchildren; Nick (Colleen) Lois, Chris Lois, Amanda (Peter) Green, Adam Richter, Katie Richter, Greg Richter, Colleen Richter, Eric (Mandi) Peterson, Alex (Amanda) Peterson, and Daniel Peterson, 3 great-grand children; Tim, Joe and Harvey, sisters; Sr. Martha Kretschmer, Rose Kretschmer and Armella Rossmiller, brother, Edmund Kretschmer, and by a sister-in-law, Delores (John) Terry. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, siblings; Joseph Kretschmer, Agnes Kerkman, Arthur Kretschmer, Fr. Albert Kretschmer and Henry Kretschmer and by a sister-in-law, Ruth Hofner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home on Thursday, February 21, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7 PM Prayer Vigil. Memorials have been suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
