FAIRBANK
Daphine Mary Rourke, 88, of Fairbank, died Tuesday, July 22, at Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, of natural causes.
She was born July 1, 1926, in Fairbank, daughter of Walter Nicholas and Lona Francis Chase Kerns. She married Clement Joseph Rourke on June 10, 1947, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank.
Daphine graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Fairbank, in 1944. She worked at Hinson Manufacturing, Waterloo, for many years until it closed and then most recently at Little Island Childcare Center, Fairbank.
Survived by: a daughter, Jeanne Rourke of Waterloo; three sons, Mike (Viv), Mark (Diane) and Steve (Michelle), all of Fairbank; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy (Duane) Ford of Oelwein; and two sisters-in-law; Ruth Kerns of Fairbank and Verna Kerns of Westgate.
Preceded in death by: her parents; four brothers, Harold, John, Robert and Duane Kerns; and two sisters, Wilma Yeager and Catherine Weber.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with a 4 p.m. parish rosary and a 7 p.m. Scripture service.
