Nelma F. Chase, 95, of Oelwein, Iowa died Friday evening, February 18, 2022, at MercyOne Senior Care in Oelwein.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein. Condolences may be sent to Nelma Chase Family 27785 S 4520 Road Afton, Oklahoma 74331. Nelma Fern Wells was born June 29, 1926, in rural Hazleton, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer William and Alice Louvisa (King) Wells. In 1944, she graduated from Lamont High School in Lamont, Iowa. On July 4, 1945, she was united in marriage to Loraine Frank Chase at the United Methodist Church in Lamont. They farmed near Stanley, Iowa from 1947 to 1968 and then moved to Hazleton, Iowa. In 1992, they moved to Oelwein. Nelma and Loraine owned and operated the Chase Oil Co. from 1971 to 2017. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Nelma enjoyed card club, playing Bingo and playing base guitar in the Hootnanny.

Nelma is survived by her daughter: Connie (Rusty) Fowlkes of Afton, Oklahoma; granddaughter: Melissa (Roger) Parker of Rogersville, Missouri; 2 great grandchildren: Kay Buschman and Dylan Parker both of Springfield, Missouri; sister: Donna Welter of Independence; brother-in-law: Roger Homewood of Oelwein; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on September 24, 2015; son: Terry Chase in 1965; granddaughter: Lisa Renee; 2 sisters: Shirley Meisgeier and Maxine Homewood; and 2 brothers-in-law: Raymond "Skip" Welter and Bill Meisgeier.
