Anna Florence (DeHaas) Schemmer, 79, of Hawarden, passed away peacefully Friday, December 19, 2014 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Hawarden with Rev. Barb Joy officiating. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Online condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Anna was born September 29, 1935, in Bellefonte, Arkansas to Herman and Golda DeHaas. She graduated from West Sioux High School and Sioux Empire College with an AA degree in Fine Arts. She married her high school sweetheart, Peter Alan Schemmer, Sr. on June 17, 1954, and they lived in Hawarden all their lives. Anna was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener, for both function and beauty. Anna was a very creative soul, and leaves us many paintings, drawings, quilts, and other treasured sewn items. Her music and her laughter will always be in our memories. Other interests included camping, fishing, shortwave radio, and traveling.
She will be missed by her daughters, Patricia of Valentine, Nebraska and Pamela of Davis, California, and son, Al of Hawarden, Iowa, and all their families and friends, including grandchildren and great-grandchild.
