Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Keegan, 84, a resident of Bettendorf, will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main St., Davenport. Visitation is 9 a.m. until the Mass time in the gathering space at the church. Burial will be privately at a later date. Robert died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at the Iowa Masonic Health Facility in Bettendorf.

Robert Joseph Keegan was born May 14, 1931, in Hull, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Elvira (Schemmer) Keegan. He attended public schools in the area and worked on the family farms in the Inwood and Rock Valley (Iowa) areas. He is a graduate of Rock Valley High School. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Soley DD-707, which patrolled off the coast of North Korea.

After discharge, he farmed briefly in the Doon, Iowa, area, later taking a job with the National Cash Register Co., and relocating to Davenport. Bob was a field engineer for NCR for 30 years, and retired in 1986. He was a pioneer in the video game business in the early '70s, and was active in the residential and commercial real estate business throughout his time in Davenport. He was a clever man with an active and inventive mind. Bob was an excellent businessman with a dynamic personality, and even earned a U.S. patent for a cash register part he invented.

Bob was a kind man with a great sense of humor who loved a good story. He was a wonderful role model and mentor to his nephews, whom he took under his wing.

Bob was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Moose, Plus 60 and the Realtors Property Association. He enjoyed fishing and golf, and was an avid card player.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport.

He is survived by his siblings, Jane Richter, Rock Valley, Helen (Jim) Huffington, Madison, Mo., Doris (John) Kershbergen, Jackson, Mo., Jim (Margo) Keegan, Taos, N.M., and Michael Keegan, Washington, D.C.; along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ellen Keegan. May they rest in peace.
