Stanley D. Moore, Jr., 52, of 813 Wisner Drive, died at St. Francis Hospital at 7 p.m. Sunday of accidental asphyxiation, caused by a fragment of meat which became lodged in his throat while he was dining at home. He was rushed to the hospital, but efforts to open the passages to permit breathing could not be accomplished in time to save his life.
He was born on Feb. 3, 1917, in Waterloo, ,the son of Stanley D. and Ruth Batiste Moore. He married Helen Martin in Waterloo on Aug. 26, 1939.
Mr. Moore was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad for 23 years and with the liquor store in Cedar Falls for the past year. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Surviving are his widow; one son, Ronald; one daughter, Carolyn, both at home; one sister, Mrs. M. L. Toddy of Miami, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. John M. Fischer, pastor, officiating. There will be a parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.
