Mrs. Matilda Kaskie, 68 years old, a resident of South Dakota for twenty years, passed away suddenly in her home at Montrose, S. D., Sunday, January 21, 1934.
She was born near Fairbank, Iowa, and grew to womanhood there. She was united in marriage to William Kaskie at Storm Lake, Iowa, and to this union six children were born, one son, Arthur, having proceeded her in death.
After leaving Storm Lake, the family moved to Rock Valley vicinity where they resided for many years, and it was here that her husband died in 1908.
She was a God fearing, christian woman, a kind and loving mother, and a devote member of the Catholic church. Funeral services were held in St. Patrick's church in Montrose, S. D., at 9:00 o'clock Wednesday morning and interment was made in St. Mary's cemetery, Rock Valley.
Surviving are five children, Roy and Adeline of Mitchell, S. D.; Vincent and Lawrence, Montrose, S.D.; and Mrs. Peter Beers, Howard, S. D.; also three brothers, Chas., Henry and Gus Trebon one sister. Mrs. J. Beierschmitt, and her aged mother of Fairbank Iowa, one sister, Mrs. F. P. Berger of Sioux City and one brother, A. Trebon of Rock Valley.
