John "Jack" Quigley, 77, of 201 21st St. NW, died there Friday, March 16, 2001, after a sudden illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Teahen Funeral Home, by the Rev. William Harnish. Burial: 11:45 a.m., St. John's Bennington Lutheran Cemetery, Dunkerton. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Elks Club and military services by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788 will be held at the funeral.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan (Jim) Segebarth Bex of Riverside; grandchildren, Jason (Angie) Bex, Julie Bex and Raylee (Dan) Yoder; great-grandchildren, Caleb Bex, Courtney McNurlen and Tyler and Austin Yoder; a brother, Gordon (Sue) Quigley of Marion; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Marvin (Bonnie) Wissink of Dunkerton, Lloyd and Martha Wissink of Gilbert and Lorna Wissink of Waverly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emily; and brothers, James, Robert and William.
Jack was born May 5, 1924, in Middletown, Ohio, the son of James Watson and Jessie Irene Beaver Quigley. He graduated from St. Leo Catholic School in St. Leo, Fla.
He was married to Emily Wissink Segebarth on May 28, 1947, in Tipton. She died in 1982. Jack and his wife owned the Niagara Cafe from 1946 to 1960 and the Neighborhood Sundries from 1960 until his retirement in 1985. Jack was a World War II veteran of the Navy Air Corps and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 788, the American Legion Hanford Post 5, a member and past commander of the 40/8 and a member of the Elks Club 251.
