Age 61. Died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, October 7, 1995. She was born February 20, 1934, in Burlington, Wis., the daughter of Jacob and Alice (Richter) Robers. On January 7, 1956, she married Charles Straus in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lyons, Wis. Virginia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elkhorn, Wis. She was active with its choir and involved with the many functions of the church. She was serving on the Board of Directors of Catholic Central High School of Burlington, Wis., and was a volunteer with Lakeland Hospice, working with its WINGS of HOPE Program. She was also an avid golfer, playing in both Evergreen and Lauderdale leagues. Virginia is survived by her husband Charles; three sons, Steve (Annie) of Dallas, Texas, David (Andrea) of Wheaton, Ill., and Michael (Michelle) of Reva, Va.; one daughter, Amy Straus of Orlando, Fla.; eight grandchildren; one brother, Cal Robers of Burlington, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Elkhorn, Wis., with Father Terry Huebner, Father Joseph Hanauska and Father Bernie Sippel officiating. Friends may call at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Elkhorn, on Wednesday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Private graveside services will be held Thursday at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Elkhorn, Wis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lakeland Hospice or American Diabetes Association.
