Fairbank Man Found in River
Fairbank, Ia.
The body of Henry Trebon, 72-year-old retired bachelor farmer, was taken from the Wapsipinicon river here Saturday morning by a group of seachers including Barney Ohl, Duane Bradley, Donald Steggall, Fred Kemp and Earl Bengley.
Buchanan County Coroner Fay Ruffcorn of Independence was called and termed it death by accidental drowning.
Trebon, who lived in town with a bachelor brother, Gus, left home about 6 p. m. Friday to fish the Wapsi four blocks below the dam, driving there in his car.
When he had not returned home sometime later his brother searched throughout the night for him. Neighbors and friends joined in the search Saturday morning.
The body was found under the bank a short distance from Trebon's car. His fishing tackle was on the bank and apparently had not been used.
It was believed that Trebon lost his balance and fell into the water, striking his head on a submerged log and suffering an injury.
The aged man apparently became exhausted before he was able to get out of the water.
Surviving are two brothers, Charles, Waterloo, and Gus, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie Beierschmitt, Fairbank.
