Ella Mae Dorn, 86, of Burlington, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017, at Pine Brook Pointe.
Born June 25, 1931, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Gilbert J. and Armella R. (nee Bush) Kerkman. She spent her early life in Burlington, graduating from St. Mary High School.
On May 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Donald W. Butler at St. Alphonsus Church. Following marriage they made their home in Madison for 10 years before moving to Slades Corners in 1961 where they opened Butler's Tavern. Don preceded her in death on May 19, 1985. On Jan. 16, 1988, she married Clarence A. Dorn. Following marriage they lived in Brighton. He preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1999. Following Clarence's death, Ella moved to Pine Brook Apartments.
Ella was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Kenosha County Tavern League and the Red Hat Society. She was everyone's mother! She loved to cook, play euchre and go to the casino. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Judy (Robert) Wagner, Joanne (George) Grady, James (Deb) Butler, Jeffrey (Deb) Butler, Janet (Dennis) Elfering and Jill (Mike) Dunklau; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings, Shirley Borst and Norman (Mary) Kerkman; sisters-in-law, Kay Kerkman and LaVerne Thering; close friend Anne Kaddatz, along with many dear friends and former customers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; daughter, Julie Butler; granddaughter, Katie Butler; siblings, infant Wally Kerkman, Jerry Kerkman, Elaine Kerkman, Walter Kerkman; brothers-in-law, Glenn Brost and Clem Thering; and Joe and Babe Mangold who were dear friends and former employees at the tavern.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Pine Brook Pointe and Seasons Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial for Ella will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Twin Lakes with Rev. Robert Weighner officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be a the CHURCH on Wednesday, July 5, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
