Miss Roberta E. 'Birdie' Schlitz R.N., 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 1997.

She was born in Burlington on February 22, 1935, to George and Dorothy (nee: Busch) Schlitz.

She graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Chicago, Ill. in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. She worked at hospitals in Chicago, Ill., Michigan, Italy, Connecticut, and then was an Emergency Room Nurse at St. Catherines Hospital in Kenosha for 25 years. She was a member of Bright Horizons Homemakers Club of Kenosha County, St. Joseph Alumni of Chicago, Ill., and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Kenosha.

Surviving are her mother, Dorothy Schlitz of Kenosha; one sister, Mary Dietz of Grayslake, Ill.; and three brothers, LeRoy of Milwaukee, Roman of Houghton Lake, Mich., and David of Green Bay. She was preceded in death by her father in 1995.

Funeral services will be held at St. Alphonsis Catholic Church in New Munster on Friday, September 5, 1997, at 7 p.m. Burial will be in St. Alphonsis Catholic Cemetery in New Munster on Saturday at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at the Proko Funeral Home, 5111 - 60th Street, on Friday from 3 until 6 p.m.
