Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church for Norman A. Arndt, 55, of 510 N. Hume Ave. He died of cancer at 6:45 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Hospital where he was admitted Wednesday. He had been ill for four years.
The Rev. Donald F. Wilger will officiate, Helen Brinkmann will be the organist, and John Binder the soloist. Burial will be in Gate of Haven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mueller-Hintz Post 1866.
Pallbearers will Floyd Schlitz, Sylvan Spiegelberg, Wilhelm Haeni, Sylvester Obemeier, Dale Fischer and William Welch.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m. today, and Tuesday until service time, at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel. St. John's prayer service will be at 7:45 p.m. today in the funeral chapel.
A life-long central Wisconsin resident, he was born Nov. 19, 1928 in Marshfield, a son of William G. and Anna K. (Hemmersbach) Arndt. He received his education in Granton and Neillsville schools and was employed in Marshfield before entering the U. S. Army in 1951, where he received a degree in electronics. After his discharge in 1953 he owned and operated a TV service here until joining Roddis PLywood, now Weyerhaeuser Co., retiring two years ago because of ill health.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 57 of Marshfield.
He married Colleen M. Mercer Aug. 29, 1953 in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. She survives along with his mother, Anna K. Arndt of Marshfield; a son, David Arndt of Marshfield; a daughter. Mrs. Larry (Cathleen) Pupp of Houston, Minn.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Harvey (Donna) Smazal of Marshfield.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra A. on June 20, 1979, his father, William G. on July 18, 1978, and a brother in infancy.
