Age 88. Passed away on December 5, 1988, at his home. He was born on July 1, 1900 in Milwaukee to Christin and Barbara (Schildt) Thate. His early life and education was spent in Milwaukee. He has lived in Burlington since 1930. He was married in Waukegan, IL. on October 8, 1923, to Marie Elsie Arndt, and she preceded him in death on May 23, 1982. Mr. Thate was a Brass Polisher Foreman for Burlington Brass and also was a Security Guard for the Playboy Club in lake Geneva. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Burlington. Surviving are two daughters, Charlotte Heiligenthal of Burlington, Shirley (Harry) Heiligenthal of Rogers, AR; one son, David (Kathleen) Thate of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; one sister, Emma Hoffmier of Greenfield, WI; two brothers, John (Lucille) Thate of Mesa, AZ, and Harry (Viola) Thate of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and George; one sisters, Agnes Schuman; and one granddaughter, Amy Heiligenthal. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 1988, at 9:30 a.m., at the SCHUETTE-DANIELS FUNERAL HOME, 157 S. Pine St., Burlington, with Reader Lester Fritz officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Burlington. Friends may call at the Funeral Home, this (WEDNESDAY) evening, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.
