Leo Edward "Butch" Kligora joined his heavenly family on July 21, 2011.
Leo was born on Aug. 25, 1921, at home in Hickory Grove to Charles and Clara Kligora and grew up in and around Boscobel. He served in the Coast Guard as a carpenters mate 2nd class during World War II and was honorably discharged in March 1946.
He married the love of his life, C. Bernadette (Zim) Zimmerman, a Boscobel school teacher, on Aug. 19, 1947. A marriage that spanned over 55 years. They moved to Dodgeville in 1950 where they raised four children.
Leo was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He worked as a meat cutter with Kroger's and other grocery stores until retiring in 1983. Leo also represented Electrolux vacuum cleaners throughout S.W. Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Zim on Jan. 22, 2003; daughter, Joanne on March 21, 1965; his parents; a son-in-law, Vern Richardson; three sisters; and a brother.
Leo is survived by a son, Thomas (Lynn) Kligora of Big Spring, Texas; two daughters, Ruth Richardson of Olivia, Minn., and Alice Kligora and her husband John Springer of Georgetown, Texas; eight grandchildren, Ed, Kerry, Bryan, Andy and Roger Kligora, Heather and Bridget Richardson, and Haley Springer; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. July 26, 2011, at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH in Dodgeville. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Friends may call at the church Tuesday after 10 a.m.
