Dying Dallas boy wants a swig of drink from Colorado A&W
A 15-year-old Dallas boy who wants a last swig of A&W root beer - from an old-fashioned jug - before he dies of cancer will be getting his wish, courtesy of a Fort Lupton root beer stand and a Denver airline.
Angela Helm, owner of the franchise here, said she sent a gallon of root beer to Jason Warborg Saturday. She said she paid for the root beer herself, and Frontier Airlines is shipping it at no cost.
"Another man picked up four more gallons for him." she said. "He should have plenty of root beer now."
What brought Jason's quest for root beer out of the jug — not from the can — to this northeastern Colorado town of 4,000 people is the apparent scarcity of A&W stands near Dallas.
And Jason has a friend, Tim Trojan, 24, who moved to Dallas from Colorado a year ago. He remembered the root beer stand in Fort Lupton.
Jason's father, Martin Warborg, said of his son's hankering for A&W from the jug: "It has a totally different flavor from A&W in the cans. We can get the cans here. But he was absolutely specific about what he wanted.
