Ethel Zirbes, 86, of Castlewood, SD passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Bryant Parkview Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in Castlewood with Father Ken Koster as celebrant and Mary Ruesink as the organist.
Interment will be at Castlewood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., with a scripture service at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Jerard Paulsen, Adam Paulsen, Justin Oleson, Jonathon Oleson, Tyler Jankord and David Hulscher.
Ethel Rita Zirbes was born May 17, 1926 to Albert and Margaret (Eilen) Richter in Kranzburg, South Dakota. She attended school at Kranzburg and worked on the family farm. On October 30, 1954 she married Joseph Jankord at the Holy Rosary Church in Kranzburg. Joseph passed away on March 15, 1966. Ethel later married Raymond Zirbes on December 6, 1972 at St. John's Catholic Church in Castlewood, South Dakota. Raymond passed away on July 26, 1989.
She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, cross stitching and crocheting.
Ethel is survived by her children, Roger (Bonnie) Jankord of Henry, SD, Beverly (Steven) Paulsen of Hazel, SD, Wayne (Carmen) Jankord of Castlewood, and Roxanne (Roger) Oleson of Watertown; her sister, Helen (LaVerne) Rueschenberg of Kranzburg; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Joseph; her second husband, Raymond; two brothers, Leonard and Aloysious; and four sisters, Loretta, Alma, Evelyn and Lavina.
