CASTLEWOOD
Funeral services for Raymond Zirbes, 71, rural Castlewood, who died July 26 in a Watertown hospital, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Catholic Church at Castlewood. The Rev. John Nieborski will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Engelbrecht, George Tillma, Garrett TeKrony, Charles Schooley, David Anderson, Ronald Brage amd Robert Bruinsma. Active pallbearers will be Duane Selchert, Kenneth Schooley, Craig Bass, Wilbur Ching, Tony Victor and Leonard Bleeker. The vocalist will be Mrs. Pam Rorvik accompanied by Mrs. Mary Ruesink.
Visitation will be in the Wight and Fox Funeral Chapel at Watertown today (Friday) until 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Relatives are requested to meet in the funeral chapel by 8:45 a.m. Saturday for a family rosary service.
Mr. Zirbes was born Jan, 23, 1918, at Castlewood to John and Catherine (Gergen) Zirbes. He attended Castlewood High School and farmed near Castlewood all his life. He married Ethel Jankord Dec 6, 1972, at Castlewood.
Mr. Zirbes was a member of the Castlewood Elevator Board for 24 years, and the Castlewood Township and Northeast Terminal boards of directors.
He is survived by his wife; two stepsons, Roger Jankord of Garden City and Wayne Jankord of Castlewood, two stepdaughters, Mrs. Steven (Beverly) Paulsen of Hazel and Mrs. Roger (Roxanne) Oleson of Watertown; four brothers, Clarence "Johnnie" of Castlewood, James of Watertown, Francis "Jack" of Denver, Colo., and Ralph "Butch" of Corona; sisters, Mrs. S.J. (Mary) Skallerud and Irene Zirbes, both Watertown, Mrs. Clinton (Rosella) Rudebusch of Castlewood and Mrs. Lyle (Stella) Wiersma of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
