Shirley J. Barbian, 73, of Sheboygan, passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Shirley was born January 26, 1937 in Milwaukee to the late Fred and Margaret (Fox) Erdman. She attended schools in Milwaukee and Plainfield.
She lived and worked in Milwaukee prior to moving to Plainfield. She was preceded in death by her first husband Bernard Chmielewski On September 12, 1964 she married Kenneth Barbian in Milwaukee.
Shirley worked at North Bowl for many years. She was president of ACLD in the early 1980's.
In addition to her husband Ken, Shirley is survived by her children; Sandy Chmielewski (Scott Luce) of Wautoma, Carol Chmielewski (Jeff Falk) of Sheboygan, Susan (Larry) Loomis of Milwaukee, Mary Barbian and special friend Nic Gotchy of Sheboygan, Steven (Kelly) Barbian of Sheboygan Falls, her grandchildren; Josh, Sarah, Rebecca, Nathan, Nadine, Courtney, Jack, Quin, and Sam. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren; Hope, Ryan, and Hannah. She is further survived by her sister Marjorie (John) Groff, her brother Fred (Sandy) Erdman, and many nieces and nephews.; She was preceded in death by her infant children, twins Stephen and Stephanie Chmielewski, and John Eric Barbian.
Memorial Services will be held for Shirley in both Almond and Sheboygan. Services in Almond will take place Friday, October 1, 2010 at 5:00 P.M., at St. John's Lutheran Church. Visitation in Almond will be at the church from 3:00 P.M. until the time of service. Services in Sheboygan will take place Saturday October 2, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Visitation in Sheboygan will be at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. Burial will take place on Friday in Almond at the East German Methodist Cemetery.
The family would prefer memorials be given to a memorial fund established in her name for the American Cancer fund and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
